Health Care
I come from a family of health care workers. As a result, I frequently report on issues of access and the ways in which health care and human rights intersect. I wrote many such stories during a year-plus stint as The Winnipeg Free Press's lone dedicated health reporter.
The Mounties
For years now, I have been exploring the RCMP's paramilitary roots and its most controversial moments, tracing the force's evolution from its 19th-century origins to now. I do so with a dual objective: to report the consequences of the multitude of human rights violations that have dogged the Mounties and to explore why these events never seem to tarnish the image of Canadians’ beloved force.
My Favourites
I have written many stories in more than a decade as a reporter. Here are the pieces that I look back at often and consider to be among my best.
